Ben Myers hails from Chicago, where he has background in theater and social work. He is in the professional master's program for magazine journalism, where he is focused primarily on honing reporting and narrative writing skills. Working on Flux is his first tussle with editorial. He spent last summer working on a feature about tragedies in Eugene's Golden Gardens Park, which Eugene Weekly published in October. Last fall and winter, Ben worked as an intern with the West Lane News, in Veneta, Oregon, where his story "Death at Camp" originated. This summer, Ben will work as a reporting intern for the Bend Bulletin, a daily newspaper in Bend, Oregon. Ben is not sure about the future and he likes it that way. However, he does have an eye on December, when he will earn his degree, barring unforeseen disaster. As for immediate goals, he is currently torn between the conflicting worlds of alt-weeklies and daily newspapers. Reporting — in as many different locations and capacities as fortune allows — is his highest ambition.
