Classically Fabulous

"Classically Fabulous"

For my actual self-portrait, I chose a “classically fabulous" theme.  I pulled out one of my favorite gowns, a martini glass, and a stack of classic books.  I love to read, and figured Peter Pan, The Jungle Book, and Sleeping Beauty would encompass some of my favorites.  For the shoot, I used a large medieval-looking couch that I’ve fondly come to call “the couch of King Henry VIII.”  I practiced bouncing a speed light off different areas of my living room.  I soon found the white ceiling worked the best for illuminating myself with soft light.  In post-production, I changed the photo to Black and White to give it more of a “classic” effect.  I effectively combined my “classic” and “fabulous” sides together.
