Trying not to limit myself
I can't help but worry now, with one documentary about a cage fighter, a photo essay consisting of portraits of cage-fighters, and a semi-regular gig photographing MMA events, that I'm on a path to being a professional fight photographer, which is something I really don't want to do.
One, because I really dislike sport shooting. It's a lot of knee-obliterating, one-angle, rapid-fire photography that feels more like factory work than photojournalism.
-and-
Two, because I don't really think we as a society need cage fighting. At least not in its current "Blood = Cheers" state, anyways. It's an interesting moral dilemma for me -- I don't like cage fighting, but here I am shooting major fights for the largest MMA website in America.
At some point here I'm going to have to draw the line and say "No more, I'm done." But with graduation looming and a troublesome job market lying in wait, can I really turn down paying jobs?
What a conundrum.
