Socializing the old-fashioned way

Socializing the old-fashioned way

Work can be fun

Production of FLUX 2009 took a lot of communication between staff. We’ve created a new way of reaching out to the world, but one thing is for sure: A little in-person interaction can be the best way to get work done. FLUX has blogs, facebook, twitter, a youtube channel, e-mail networks, profiles, multimedia and more. But these new communications platforms didn’t just pop up on our screens colorful and ready to be clicked without teamwork and planning that took place on multiple levels of reality: digital, mobile and, my personal favorite, over a couple beers and some fries at the local burger joint. So for as proud as I am of our work on the Web this year, I want to send three cheers out to everyone who took a moment to talk, laugh, and enjoy work off-screen. Social Media doesn’t work if there are no real people out there interacting, hanging out, and passing on the good word. If you’re looking for more ways to get out there, off the web, try taking a gander at our map, Northwest Explorations. http://flux.uoregon.edu/magazine/2009/front-of-book/explorations/northwest-explorations/view Or check out boffing at: http://flux.uoregon.edu/multimedia/a-boffing-brigade/view
